Shelbey Hooker's aviation journey took off in 2008 when she embarked on helicopter flight training while simultaneously working as a customer service representative at an FBO in Phoenix, AZ. Thriving in the dynamic world of private aviation, she cultivated relationships with a diverse clientele. Her achievements included earning multiple ratings in both airplanes and helicopters. Subsequently, Shelbey transitioned to General Atomics, where she piloted unmanned aircraft, carrying out reconnaissance operations during three wartime deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Additionally, she assumed responsibilities as a mission planner and briefing officer for the MQ-1C and MQ-9 aircraft.
In 2013, Shelbey reentered civilian aviation, serving as a client relationship manager for new aircraft owners. Her outstanding performance led to her promotion, overseeing the ownership cycle for a HondaJet sales dealership, offering primary client support. Shelbey's role included advocating for owners, expediting post-sale requests, and ensuring positive ownership experiences.
In 2021, Shelbey joined a rapidly expanding aviation operation as the director of managed aircraft services. That same year, she received a nomination from her peers and was recognized by the National Business Aviation Association as one of the "Top 40 Under 40" in the Broker and Sales category.
Alongside her dedication to business aviation and aircraft owners, Shelbey Hooker co-founded the Red Note Foundation in memory of her sister. This non-profit organization supports music programs in Arizona schools. She's also a dedicated volunteer for organizations like Women in Aviation, the Whirly Girls, NBAA, and AZBAA. Shelbey holds a B.S. in Professional Aeronautics and a Minor in Helicopter Operations & Safety from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
